David de Gea is considering a potential move to a Serie A club

Former Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea is reportedly considering a move to a Serie A club.

Since leaving United last summer, De Gea has been a free agent.

The Spaniard has expressed a willingness to return to United, contingent upon the departure of Erik ten Hag and former football director John Murtough, who played a role in his exit.

In April, United confirmed that Murtough would be leaving the club.

Despite ongoing speculation about his future, ten Hag has secured his position as manager, having signed a one-year contract extension that will keep him with the club until 2026, following United’s success in the FA Cup.

As it stands, a return to Old Trafford seems quite improbable for de Gea, prompting him to explore other potential opportunities.

Genoa, under the management of Alberto Gilardino, concluded the previous Serie A season in an impressive 11th place.

David De Gea made his transition to Manchester United from Atletico Madrid in 2011, amassing a remarkable 545 appearances for the Red Devils.

Throughout his tenure at United, De Gea achieved significant success, securing the Premier League title, the FA Cup, two League Cups, and the Europa League trophy.
